When you need to have any form of asbestos testing done, there are a few factors that can affect how long it takes from the first phone call to the results.
Homeowners
For homeowners, organizing asbestos testing will involve making an appointment that is suitable for both the homeowner and one of the asbestos services team. Some areas to consider when making an appointment range from:
The working hours of the homeowners – will they be available during the services business hours, or is an after-hours appointment needed?
Does the homeowner want to be present during procurement?
If the asbestos sample can be done without the homeowner being present, is there safe and available access to the area where they need to gain access?
Once possible samples are taken, any questions or concerns the homeowners have can be discussed. Also, measuring the area for a quotation can be arranged during the site visit. Once the sample is taken, the asbestos analysis is completed and the results are typically ready within 24 hours.
Investment Property
When investment properties need to have asbestos tested, there are more factors that must be considered before a site visit can be done.
If the property has a manager, they will need to contact and liaise with tenants for a suitable time for when the property can be accessed. Sometimes, tenants prefer the asbestos service to contact them directly to make an appointment. This is typically the preferred method, as communication is faster and a suitable time is made promptly.
Once the sample has been taken, if there are any concerns or questions, these can be addressed. Then, depending on how the testing was organized, either the property manager is contacted or the homeowner. Results are provided within 24 hours.
